This summer I attended a creativity workshop in Florence, Italy. It was a dream trip for me. One of the interesting things I learned at the workshop is the problem with stress and imagination. The presenters at the workshop said that it is more difficult to be imaginative when you are under stress.
When I reflect on my most imaginative moments, they are times when I am daydream or mulling over a problem. It is during these times that I come up with some of my best ideas.
I want to point out though, relaxed doesn't mean unfocused. I think that is a misconception of many people. I would suggest that when people are daydreaming, they are very focused; its just not on the things around them. They are focused on some kind of internal reality.
I think we need to allow ourselves time to "mull over" ideas. So, I have a task of "mulling" for you...I call it "10 Things". Take a few minutes first and practice some mindfulness practices.
I have included an audio file of a Tibetan Singing Bowl that will go off every 30 seconds to help you with your mindful practice. The audio file lasts for 20 minutes.
I have also included a little testimonial video for the Creativity Workshop I went too. This one is for Crete and I went to the one in Florence.
