Awesome Energy in Moose Jaw

What a wonderful time in Moose Jaw!  I want to thank all those who came to my workshop and participated.  Lorne took some great pictures...

As promised...I am going to take your unit plan ideas and post them too.  Please remember to send me your Arts Education Units (michael.koops@pvsd.ca) and I will post them to share with the group.

What is this?

I created this blog as a presentation tool for a workshop I am going to give to the Middle Years Conference in Saskatchewan.  What I wanted to address in the workshop was the issue of indicators and strands, overtaking the outcomes that were intended for the Arts Education curriculum.

This is a guide for planning a robust Arts Education program.  The starting point are the outcomes of the curriculum, not the indicators or even the strands.  If you follow the tabs at the top of the blog page, you will see my process for planning an Arts Education program.  There are other ways, to do this planning.  However, I try to emphasize what I think makes our Arts Education curriculum amazing...

Students should be creative...

Students should be reflective...

Students should understand history and culture...

These are the foundational objectives of our curriculum.  I believe that these are worthwhile endeavors for students and educators.
